Sr. Courses
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10 (PE 10 - #760) The emphasis in this course is on participation in all areas of physical education. Through active play students further develop the skills taught in grades 8 & 9. Sportsmanship and team play are emphasized. Students are expected to complete 10 hours of community service as a part of this course. An active health unit is also a component of this course.
PE 11 (PE 11 - # 560) PE 12 ( PE 12 - #460) Physical Education 11 and 12 focus on promoting healthy attitudes and regular physical activity as important parts to a student's lifestyle. The course emphasizes effective leadership skills, and planning for careers that involve physical activity. Students who demonstrate a genuine interest in this course will be given every opportunity to explore new and alternate activities that will increase their interest in physical activity as a lifelong pursuit. Students will be required to conduct 20 hours of community volunteer work as well as perform leadership activities within the class. Students must have demonstrated competence (70% or better) in Physical Education 8 - 10. The student may incur some costs as activities are developed within the course. (Applied Skills)
Jr. Course
PE 9 (PE 9 - #760) A combination of indoor and outdoor activities will be offered in this course. Students will develop their skills and sportsmanship within individual and team sports. Students are given opportunities to develop a healthy lifestyle through fitness. Marks are dependent upon active participation in the program. Most units have both written and skills tests to determine the student's knowledge and ability. An active health unit teaches about the dangers of drug abuse, smoking and the benefits of regular exercise and proper diet.
