COMPUTER BASED COURSES


COMPUTER APPLICATIONS 10 (YCMAP- #650 ) This course is designed for students with an introductory level of computer experience. Students will learn how to use computer programs that are used in today's businesses. You will be using Microsoft office (Word Processing), PowerPoint presentations, Excel Spreadsheets, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe PageMaker, Web Page Design. There are also some enrichment projects to choose from such as the School Web Page and a Video Editing Component using either Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier.


ANIMATION AND VIDEO PRODUCTION 11 (BAA) (Formally Media Technology 11. YMT11 - # 553) This course introduces the basics 2D and 3D animation and design. The course also involves students in video production and editing. Students will then create web pages that include their animations and videos. The course outline covers many areas including Ray Dream Animation: 3D, Flash 5 Animation: 2D, Adobe Premiere or Adobe Final Cut Pro. Students will create their own DVD's using Web Editing software available to them. (Fine Arts or Applied Skill.)


YEAR BOOK JOURNALISM 11 (BAA) (YYB11 - # 554) This course is intended to give students an opportunity to create a school yearbook. Students will learn about PageMaker, Digital Photography, Picture Scanning, Planning Page Layouts and editing using Photoshop. Students will also be enrolled in yearbook Sales and Advertising. Course grades are determined on the basis of learning the software and being able to completion their specific pages. (Fine Arts or Applied Skills).

 

BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS 11 (BCA11 - #551) This course is designed for students with an intermediate level of computer skills and will introduce the skills necessary for a career in Business. Students will learn how to use computer programs that are used in today's businesses. You will be using Microsoft Office (Word Processing), PowerPoint Presentations, Excel Spreadsheets, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Web page Designs, ending with a final project. Students will be creating and editing videos using Adobe Premier as well as using the Internet and learning about computer systems throughout the course. Students will be exposed to Flash 5 and be required to create an animated movie. In addition, there are also some enrichment projects to choose from such as the School Web Page. (Applied Skills)
 

DATA MANAGEMENT 12 (DM 12 - # 451) This course will build on skills learned in Business Computer Applications 11 that are essential for a career in Business. You will learn advanced processed of computer programs that are presently used in today's work place. You will learn Desktop publishing, advanced excel spreadsheets, databases, web page design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and finishing of the class with a final Project. Students will create and editing videos using Adobe Premier. There are also some enrichment projects to choose from such as the School Web Page and the Princeton chamber of Commerce Web Page. Prerequisite: BCA 11. (Applied Skills)

 

BUSINESS EDUCATION


ACCOUNTING 11 (AC 11 - #550
) Students need financial, economic and consumer skills to survive in our complex society. This course is designed as an introduction to accounting concepts for those seeking entry-level employment skills or personal skills. Students gain insights into financial problems and solutions that have far-reaching benefits for entrepreneurial and professional careers. Students learn the Accounting Cycle for service industries. They also learn the accepted Accounting Principals and correct accounting terminology. The use of spreadsheet software and Simple Accounting projects will be introduced in this course. This course is a requirement for Business, Finance and Administration Career Prep. Students. (Applied Skills)


APPLIED ACCOUNTING 12 (AC 12 - # 450)
This course is designed for students who wish to pursue post-secondary studies in accounting, finance, business management, or commerce. Advanced concepts of financial accounting encourage students to develop analytical decision-making skills and communication skills. These skills will also be useful to those students intending to pursue other professions. This is a required course for B.E. Accounting Career Preparation students. Recommend: Accounting 11 (50%) (Applied Skills)



ENTREPRENEURSHIP 12 (ENT 12 - #454) In this course, students will simulate a business structure by actually creating a student run business through the issuing of shares. The development of effective interpersonal skills and a viable business plan will be an integral part of this course. The student is expected to operate his or her own business and generate income from their business endeavors. Throughout the course you will be increasing your skills in the following areas: Creative thinking, Brainstorming and Planning, Marketing, Advertising and promotion, financial planning and the law and creating a Business Plan to begin your own business venture. Students are required to work on their own business for a minimum of 1 month in order to create a successful business. (Applied Skills)
