I will ask permission of the sender before reposting a message

I will not post personal information about myself, my family, other students, teachers, district employees or friends. (NOTE: personal information may include full names, addresses, school locations , phone numbers, etc.)

 

Plagiarism

 

I will respect the rights of copyright owners by acknowledging their ownership of material

I will not NOT plagiarize works found on the Internet

I will ask the original author for written permission to use graphics, clip art, or any other copyrighted works and will give appropriate credit.

Respecting Resource Limit:

 

The Internet is for educational use only

The School System Manager has the right to set disk space limits

Do not post chain letters or engage in spamming (spamming is sending junk mail to a large number of user)

Check your email frequently and delete unwanted messages

USE OF THE INTERNET IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. Inappropriate use will result in the cancellation of those privileges and possible disciplinary actions or other consequences.

As a user of School District #58 Internet, email system, I will follow all the rules of expected conduct, appropriate language, fai and respectful comments, and responsible behavior. I understand the consequences for breaking these rules may result in the limitation or withdrawal of the privilege to of having access to the District or School internet, email systems.

 

More specifically, without limiting the above, I agree that:

 

I will not do anything illegal

I will read and follow the PLNet Acceptable use

Standards (posted on www.sd58.bc.ca)

I will abide by the school and district regulations and code of conduct.

I will use appropriate language on the internet, and any statements I make will be respectfu, fair, and not malicious.

I will accept my responsibility for my actions, errors and omissions

I will not engage in any financial transactions or cause any danages or losses to any person in using School District #58 internet/email system

 

School access to the internet is available to the students and staff at Princeton Secondary. We believe that the use of the internet is a valuable tool for education and research purposes.

 

Before such access can be granted, you and your child must sign the attached SCHOOL DISTRICT NO.58 (NICOLA-SIMILKAMEEN) DISTRICT NETWORK ACCESS STUDENT APPLICATION FORM and return it to the school.

 

This pamphlet has two functions. The first is to inform you of the positive and negative aspects of the internet and to help you make the decision whether you want your child to have access. The second is to outline the responsibilities of the student when using the internet as per the SCHOOL DISTRICT NO.58 ACCEPTABLE USE OF POLICY for internet access.

The internet is an electronic highway connecting millions of computers around the world. When you are connected to the internet you have access to: electronic mail, information, and news, software, discussion groups, university libraries, etc. The internet has a great wealth of information when used properly for educational and research purposes.

 

Guidelines for Internet use

 

In appropriate access to material:

 

Do not access material that is profane or obscene (pornography), that advocates illegal acts, or that advocates vilence or discriination towards other people (hate literature)

 

If you access such information, immedicately disclose the stie to a supervising teacher. This will protect users against allegations of violation the SCHOOL DISTRICT

 

Illegal Activity

 

Do not attempt to gain acces to user accounts other than your own

 

Do not attempt to disrupt network performance, destroy dada by spreading virusus or tamper with any other computer functions

 

Do not engage in ANY illegal acts

 

Personal Safety:

Do not post personal information about yourself or others

 

Do not agree to meet with someone you meet on the internet

 

Report any messages that inappropriate ir make you feel uncomfortable to a teacher.

 

Search and Seizure:

The district reserves the right monitor and review user files ensure the user is complying this policy

 

A parent has the right to view the child's files

 

Inappropriate Language:

Obscene,profane,lewd, vulgarm rude, inflammatory, threatengingm disrespectful language is not acceptable

Do not engage in personal attacks including prejudicial discriminatory attacks

  • Network Security:

You are responsible for your account. Under no conditions should you give out your (user) password to another person

You will immediately notify your teacher or the school system manager if you notice a possiable security problem
